[ 04 / NETWORKING ]

Networking

A segmented home network with DNS, DHCP and a firewall you configured yourself.

L1–L2Labs run on your machine0 courses

This is for you if

  • You can use a terminal and are willing to break your own network once.
  • You have been copying router settings from forum posts and want to understand them.

It is not, if

  • You want a certification cram. This is hands on your own hardware.

The ladder

In order. Each one assumes the one before it, and each one ends in something that runs.

The courses on this track are being written. The curriculum is set — you can read it in the implementation notes — but nothing here is open for enrolment yet, and we would rather show you an empty shelf than a course that is not finished.

What you need

All of it, stated up front — including the parts that cost money.

  • Your own machine, or a VPS at roughly KES 500 to 800 a month.
  • Linux or macOS. Windows works through WSL2, which the first lesson sets up.

We also do this for a living

This track teaches what our own engineers do on client work. If you would rather we built it than taught you, that service is on the main site.

Start at the bottom rung

The first course of every track is the one that decides whether the rest is for you. Read its first lesson before you sign up for anything.
